Cool Roof
Reflective roofing options designed to reduce solar heat absorption. Suitability and potential energy savings depend on the building and selected system.

Best for: Homes and buildings with hot upper floors or roof replacements where reflectivity matters.
What the work includes
- Reflective membrane or coating options
- Cool-rated shingle and tile products
- Review of California energy requirements for the project
- Substrate prep
What to expect, step by step
- 01
Inspect
We check seams, drains, slope, penetrations and signs of trapped moisture.
- 02
Written options
Repair, coating and replacement are compared based on what we find.
- 03
Prepare the surface
Old material is removed or the substrate is cleaned and repaired as the scope requires.
- 04
Install the system
Membrane or coating is installed with detailed drains, edges and penetrations.
- 05
Walk-through
We review drainage and details with you and clean up the site.
What affects the estimate
We do not post price ranges because they would not be honest without seeing your roof. These are the things that move the number for this kind of work:
- Existing system and how many layers are on the roof
- Wetness in insulation, which a moisture check can reveal
- Slope, ponding and drain or scupper condition
- Number of penetrations, curbs and parapet details
- Whether a coating, overlay or full replacement is appropriate

Cool Roof: common questions
Are cool roofs required?
California energy standards include cool roof provisions in some cases. Confirm what applies with your local building department; the California Energy Commission publishes the standards.
Will it lower my cooling costs?
Reflective roofs reduce heat gain, but results vary with insulation, ventilation and HVAC. We do not promise specific savings.
