Roofing questions, answered plainly

Short answers first. If a topic needs more depth, we link to the full buyer guide.

Estimates and working with us

How do I request a free estimate?

Use the estimate form on this site or call (626) 660-6843. Tell us the address, roof type, and what you are seeing, and we will follow up to arrange a look at the roof.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Inclusive Roofing holds a C-39 Roofing CSLB license #1145966. You can verify any California contractor license on the CSLB website (https://www.cslb.ca.gov/consumers/hire-a-contractor/).

Why do you need to see the roof before quoting?

Pitch, layers, flashing details and deck condition change the scope. A phone number without an inspection is a guess.

What should a written estimate include?

Scope of work, named materials, what is included or excluded, how unexpected deck damage is handled, and payment terms. Our estimate cost factors guide has a comparison table.

Do you handle permits?

Permit requirements vary by city and by project. Ask us about your address and we will explain what applies and who handles it before work is agreed.

Repair, replacement and leaks

How do I know if I need a repair or a new roof?

If damage is local and the rest of the roof is sound, repair is often enough. If leaks return, the surface is failing broadly, or the layer underneath is worn out, replacement deserves a look. See our repair vs. replacement guide.

My tile roof leaks but the tile looks fine. Why?

Tile sheds most water, but the underlayment beneath is the waterproofing layer. When that layer ages, leaks appear even with good-looking tile. A tile reset addresses it without new tile.

Can a flat roof be coated instead of replaced?

Sometimes, if the existing membrane is dry and sound. Wet insulation or failed drainage needs more than a coating.

What should I do about an active leak?

Protect belongings, contain the water, and call us. Temporary measures can limit damage until a proper repair is done.

Materials and systems

Tile or shingle: which should I choose?

It depends on structure, budget, style and neighborhood rules. Our materials comparison guide walks through the trade-offs.

What is a cool roof?

A roof with a reflective surface that absorbs less solar heat. California energy standards include cool roof provisions; confirm what applies to your project with your local building department.

What is torch-down roofing?

A modified bitumen system where layers are heat-welded together, commonly used on low-slope residential and small commercial roofs.
